This is Russ’ take on where kitcars should be heading – mid engined & wild!
The car is a Furore, it is Russ’ own design from the ground up, all done from a double garage in Benfleet. It was completed, IVA’d & registered in 2012, as it now has to be MoT’d it tends to raise a few eyebrows at the local MoT centre! It is a single donor vehicle, the old MR2 Mk1, & can be built with either the original Toyota 1.6 twin cam 4AGE engine or, like this one with the ZZR1400 bike engine, performance is “adequate” with 0 – 60 in around 3.5 seconds. Although it looks like a single seater, it actually seats 2 in tandem as the airbox can be removed to give access to the second seat. Russ has also built several other Furore’s some of which now reside in Germany, there are a few kits registered in the UK, one is owned by the “Plymouth Stig”!
